Mother Dear

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today I'd like to celebrate the birth of my mom by explaining to ya'll why we love her so much! I feel like I could talk forever about why I love my mother but I'll try to keep it to just a few points. :)

  • I have always loved my mom's fun and energetic personality. She is always up for new adventures, sometimes I have a hard time keeping up with her and I'm the younger one! She sure makes life exciting and fun. She rarely sits out of a game that the family is playing. I've watched her play baseball, soccer, basketball and any other game the family has going on. I know that playing these games makes her body hurt because of her arthritis but she's done all she can do to never let it slow her down and I admire that strength that she exemplifies. This example helps me to accomplish difficult things in life without giving excuses to "sit out".
  •  My mom is so supportive and encouraging! She often comes to the slow-pitch softball games that Ashley and I play in, even if it is freezing outside. She came to our games this last Thursday and I was surprised becuase she had surgery on her foot the previous Friday! It was great to have her there. It doesn't matter to her that we're all grown up she still comes and cheers us on just like she did when I was younger. Her loyalty and devotion in supporting her family is so admirable.
  • My mom is the kind of person that has a smile on her face most of the time. It's rare to catch her in a moment where she's not optimistic or happy about something. I love this! She helps spread so much joy just by trying to see the good in life. This trait makes her somebody you want to be around becuase she helps ya to laugh.
  • I don't think anything in this world makes my mom more happy than having her family all around spending time together. These are the moments I often see the biggest smiles from her. She recognizes how important family is and she puts in so much effort to get us all together. Because of this example she has taught me how to prioritize my life.
  • She is also a hard worker, when she sets her mind to something you can't hold her back. Her determination and work ethic are very admirable. There has been many times that she has took on jobs as a substitute teacher or a piano teacher just so that my parents could support a missionary. She does all she can to help provide for the family, not just financially but also spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
  • My mom is a very good teacher. One of the most memorable teaching moments with my mom was when she taught me the concept of faith. Because of this teaching moment I have been able to continue to try and build on my testimony of Jesus Christ. Faith is such an important key in building a testimony. My mom taught me that faith is an action word. This simple concept has changed my life and I owe that to my wonderful mother who has taught me how to live a truly happy and successful life.

Mom, I hope you have a marvelous birthday! I hope you know that Brad and I love and cherish you very much and we appreciate all that you do for us. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made to raise me the way that you did. Your thoughtful acts of kindness do not go unnoticed. Happy Birthday!!
